Tahilla Gatherings
It is hard to believe this was the first time I had met Jeanne Henriques in person. By the time I attended the gathering she hosted, Reinvention with Sharon Santoni of My French Country Home Magazine, I felt as though Jeanne and I were longtime friends. We had met through an online creative photography class with Kim Klassen, and during one session she spotted me distracted by Instagram and chimed in. Clearly she was also distracted to have found me there. We immediately bonded over travel, tote bags, and the Scottish brown tones in our photographs.
Jeanne is among the original expat bloggers, with a wide network of fellow travelers, expats, and creators of beautiful spaces. When I saw she was hosting this weekend event, I jumped on it. It was only a three-hour drive from my home in upstate New York, and the weather forecast was clear of any pending snow. I offered to photograph the weekend and lend a hand wherever she needed one.
She and Sharon share a long history, and it was inspiring to witness their natural creative collaboration firsthand. Every detail had been considered, right down to our pens and journals. Le Pen remains my pen of choice to this day. Watching Sharon forage for treasures at Tahilla and then transform them into works of art was something I will not forget.
The weekend was divine, and it sealed a friendship that continues to this day, six years later.
