Christine Harris - Me!
This time of year, always has me reflecting and dreaming of what is ahead s it felt like the right moment for me to be vulnerable and be the focus of the 50 Women Highlight. Beyond the usual holiday bustle, I naturally turn inward, remembering of where I have been and what I am quietly hoping for next.
2025 has brought a great deal of change, not just for me, but for many of the women around me. The steady presence of friends and family has carried me through the ups and downs, and I hope I have been a source of comfort and encouragement in return.
The 50 Women Project has given me more than I ever imagined. Listening to stories, sitting in honest conversation, and witnessing women in this powerful, transitional midlife stage has been deeply grounding and inspiring. Again and again, I am reminded of our resilience, our tenderness, and our capacity to begin anew. This project has been a gift of connection, and one I will always hold close.
What really matters to you?
Love.
I tell people I love them often with intention and heartfelt meaning. Losing friends and family shifts your perspective. You become clearer about what truly matters. As Bono says, “love is not the easy thing… the only baggage you can bring.”
Doing what I love matters, photographing, making art, creating something meaningful. Quality time with my daughters, even as they are busy starting their careers. I hope I stay tuned in to their lives and able to meet them where they are. And checking in with my parents more often matters more than it ever did before and thankfully I now live around the corner from them.
What brings you happiness?
You know the saying that you are only as happy as your saddest child. I think for every mother, that is the starting point. Creating makes me happy. Taking pictures, storytelling and making art make me happy. I’m happy when I’m connecting with people while photographing them.
Delicious food, good wine, and deep conversation bring me joy. Deep conversation while enjoying delicious food and wine, even better. Coffee makes me very happy. And Italy. Always Italy.
What are some of the biggest challenges you have faced?
I think I am facing my biggest challenge right now. Making a big move back to my childhood hometown and starting over with my photography career, while trusting that it will work out. I wanted this next season to be close to my parents and my daughters, and to be in a place with more people to photograph in Los Angeles.
I intended to simplify my life by downsizing to apartment living and letting go of the financial and time responsibilities of owning a home. And I wanted to return to traveling to Italy.
The challenge has been trusting the unfolding, especially when things did not go as planned. Learning to stay open, grounded, and hopeful in the middle of uncertainty has been the hardest part.
“Ruin is a gift, ruin is the road to transformation.”
—Elizabeth Gilbert
What would you change if you could?
I would have loved when I had the chance.
What single word do you identify with?
I wish this word wasn’t testing me so much but…
RESILIENT
About Me:
I am a portrait and fine art photographer based in Los Angeles. My work is rooted in connection, creating images that feel honest, relaxed, and true to the people in front of my camera.
I’m currently photographing headshots, families, and on-location portraits throughout Los Angeles. Whether it is a professional headshot, a family session, or a creative portrait, I approach each session with care, ease, and attention, making the experience comfortable and collaborative.
If you are in Los Angeles and looking for photographs that feel natural, thoughtful, and distinctly you, I would love to work together.
