Kristin Giffin

Last September, I had the privilege of welcoming Kristin Giffin to Sharon Springs. Our paths first crossed many years ago when our daughters were in preschool together in LA. She now lives in San Marcos, Texas with her husband Eric and their daughter Hannah. As Kristin will share, Hannah's health requires support from both parents.

When Kristin mentioned that Eric and Hannah felt she deserved an annual mom retreat, and she chose Sharon Springs for the 50 Women Project photoshoot, I was deeply honored. It had been quite some time since we last spent quality time together, and I was eagerly looking forward to our time together.

Having followed Hannah's journey on social media, where she openly shares her daily challenges, I anticipated hosting a weary mom, both physically and emotionally. However, from the moment we bear hugged at the airport – a blend of joy and tears – Kristin radiated positivity and vitality.

As we caught up on the porch with many glasses of wine, I discovered Kristin's remarkable career and how it was perfectly matched with her talents. It was evident that she possesses natural leadership qualities and shares a dynamic bond with her team. What struck me most was her ability to embrace personal growth while remaining devoted to her family.

You've likely heard the adage, 'a mother is only as happy as her unhappiest child,' and knowing Kristin's deep dedication as a mother, I can only imagine the delicate balance she maintains.

Kristin, it was an honor to have you as my guest.

Thank you for your friendship.

You inspire me!

What really matters to you?

Peace. Hands down. From a place of peace, everything beautiful takes root; quieting the noise of things that matter less, joy becomes quickly and easily accessible.

What brings you happiness?

Bare feet on a warm summer sidewalk, the smell of tomato plants, pajamas warm from the dryer, a hot cup of tea (for two), a chilled glass of wine, a long gaze into my dog's eyes, a good cry, and belly laughter echoing in the walls of my home.

What are some of the biggest challenges you have faced?

I've experienced significant loss in my life, which has threatened to overwhelm light. Most specifically, in the loss of my daughter's health, grief has become a common thread in my tapestry. The challenge has become weaving threads of gold among the grief, which catches and amplifies the light - shimmering with bold levity in the face of hardship. The light always wins.

What would you change if you could?

I hesitate greatly to say that I would change anything in my own privileged circumstance. But from my place of privilege, I seek to shift trends of injustice; to be a voice for those without. I ache for each individual to know their worth. God, what a world that would be. And I would entirely obliterate every trace of animal cruelty from the planet. We simply don't deserve the gift of the animals that grace the earth.

What single word do you identify with?

Resolve.

RESOLVE
